Flip the page on the calendar, and here we are looking at hurricane season again. Cross your fingers for another lucky summer. Come see us in Lynn Haven or on 23rd Street to double-check your limits and deductibles. The insurance environment in Florida continues to be very difficult, but things seem to have leveled off and in some cases, even improved. Still, many very good insurance companies have left (or are leaving) the state, and home and business owners still face some hefty premium bills. And it seems that every time the legislature or Cabinet meets, the situation deteriorates even further. We're still on the roller coaster, but the hills have smoothed out a bit. Please remain seated until the ride comes to a complete stop. With all that's happening in Florida, now would be a good time to dig out your insurance policies and review them. Be sure your limits are adequate. Check your deductibles and wind coverage. Consider adding flood insurance, even if you're not near the water. You don't want to wait until you see the Weather Channel reporting from Panama City Beach. If you're shopping, be very, very careful. There are some deals to be had out there, but some of the new insurance companies in the state have very little money and even less experience. When you're shopping, do your homework, and that means digging a lot deeper than just the price. Fine out the company's history and what their AM Best rating is. Remember, whatever this season brings, we'll be here for you.
